Mikael Daez and Megan Young reveal how the pandemic affected their finances and the changes that they have made to save money.

Mikael Daez and Megan Young discussed how the pandemic affected their spending habits and the changes that they have made in our current situation.

The Kapuso couple shared the details in their podcast Behind Relationship Goals.

According to Mikael, their savings that were normally for travel and dining out is now used for their rainy day fund.

He said, "We have saved a bit more than usual simply because we're not sure what health scares or hospital bills might come in our future.

"We've definitely put a portion of our savings that will normally go to travel or to dining and put into 'the just in case magkaroon ng emergency,' this is our money."

Mikael admitted that they invested in the improvement of their studio that they use a lot this quarantine.

"Our first initial investment is upgrading our studio, making sure that some of our extra savings spent just goes back into our work."

Megan added they both agreed on investing in things that would improve their work output.

"Sabi nga ni Fofo (Mikael), basta ilagay mo ulit ang pera mo kung saan ka kumikita then that probably would be a good investment kasi you're constantly upgrading what you have and the outputs that you have."

Megan added that part of the financial decisions that they made in this pandemic is selling a car.

"We actually decided to sell a car," she confirmed.

Mikael explained, "We had two cars simply because it made sense kung may taping si Boneezy (Megan) she uses one car, kung may taping ako, I use the other car.

"Now, there is no taping. If ever there is taping it's a lock-in situation where we don't need to bring a car," he added.

According to Mikael, it is not sustainable to have two cars in their current work situation.

"Natutulog lang 'yung isang kotse natin pero kailangan pa rin natin i-maintain. Nabubulok naman siya, 'yung baterya kailangan palitan 'pag namamatay. We decided, 'You know what Bonez, let's sell the car.' Di kami natakot."

He also discussed how they saved more because of their decision.

"You get so much value back and you can put that in a bank account, you can put in a mutual fund, so that it grows because if it was stuck in the car, then that would depreciate every year.

He added, "We were able to save a lot there, and save for the future."
